Synopsis
Leïla Jones, known as Viper in the smugglers’ world, is a water dealer working at a desert oasis, the Back Sea — a vital supply stop for the Externals, the people of the hostile, polluted no man’s lands. The place is controlled by the Consortium, a dictatorial regime that governs and rations resources with an iron fist, under the watch of its AI, Achilles.
Viper is never without her confidant and best friend, LEM, a plush rabbit given to her by her parents. The toy carries an advanced AI that can protect her and assist her with all her daily tasks. Her assistant, Gum, a military humanoid repurposed for the general public, accompanies her on all her adventures. He is her butler, her bodyguard and her big brother.

Barely out of the trunk he was thrown into, the clan’s hitman has two hours to find Alice, the godfather’s daughter he secretly loves, before the people wiping out the clan kill her.
Max wakes up in the trunk of a car. He calls Roger, breaks free and kills the two men who put him there.
Max kills for Roger, the godfather of the street, who took him in at eight after the shooting that killed his mother and left his father in a coma. He takes drugs, and he sees them walking beside him: his mother, dead, and his father, who never woke up.
Tonight, someone wants to wipe out the clan. Roger’s last heist turns into a massacre. And Alice, Roger’s daughter, has vanished. Max has loved her in secret since they were children. She backs down from nothing, and now she is in danger.
Max answers to no one anymore. He questions, he hits, he kills. He works his way up the street, clan by clan, watched by a police commissioner who protects the underworld and an Interpol inspector who wants to see it fall.
Every door he forces brings him closer to Alice. And to the truth about the man who raised him.
